Hundreds of new cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus are showing up in new
parts of the world, even as they decline at the outbreak epicenter in
China. As of Friday, more than 100,000 people have been diagnosed with
the infection in more than 80 countries.
The virus has already shown it has the potential to kill — particularly
vulnerable groups, like the elderly and people with underlying health
conditions. It’s also highly contagious. And there’s a lot we don’t know
about it since it was only discovered mere weeks ago. For these
reasons, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared Covid-19 a global
